What are your thoughts about Hulk Hogan at the Republican National Convention in support of Trump and ripping his shirt off? Did he exaggerate?

The shirt rip? Meh. That’s expected.

Hogan was incredibly nice. My sister’s bus stop was in front of his house and he was extremely nice, specially as at the time he was really popular. One sister and her daughter met him (again, in my sisters case) a couples of years ago at a convention, and he was still really nice.

So why does that make me disappointed? Not because he’s a Republican, I know some awesome republicans and I’m not surprised he’s a republican. But because we all know that this is about supporting Trump, and I thought better of Hogan. To me, supporting Trump isn’t really that much different than supporting Hitler. Meaning that even if you claim you don’t like how he treats other people, you are still okay with putting a man in power that plans to hurt those people. That makes you shitty.

I’m wondering about attachment and transference with the therapist and the idea of escape and fantasy? How much do you think your strong feelings, constant thoughts, desires to be with your therapist are a way to escape from your present life? I wonder if the transference serves another purpose than to show us our wounds and/or past experiences, but is a present coping strategy for managing what we don’t want to face (even if unconsciously) in the present—-current relationships, life circumstances, etc. Can anyone relate to this concept of escape in relation to their therapy relationship? How does this play out for you?

Kinda disappointed, but only because both my sisters and one niece met him.
